Break
Away (2005, 26 minutes, DVCAM, Ireland / Kosovo / Macedonia)
In Kosovo,
children are still being killed and mutilated by unexploded ordnance
remaining from the conflict with Serbian forces. Break Away follows
a group of these children as they travel on holiday to Macedonia.
We observe the normalization process they experience, re-adapting
to their environment with the help of their friends, family, and
community.

Jinn
(2006, 26 minutes, DVCAM, Ireland / UK / Kenya)
The dark power
of the jinn is an unspoken taboo affecting every level of East
African society from ordinary village life to government decision-making.
Accounts are recorded of mob justice exacted on witches practicing
the dark arts, of children becoming demonically possessed, and
of well-educated individuals hiring witchdoctors for particularly
sinister ends.

Bong
County Peace Festival (2006, 26 minutes, HDV, Ireland / Liberia)
Following
fourteen years of bloody civil war, attempts are being made to
reunite a deeply divided Liberian society through cultural expression.
Bong County acts as a venue for a festival of music, dance, and
theatre. The ferocity of the drumbeats and intensity of the dance
conveys the power of a people trying to re-unite and put the past
behind them.

Bualadh
Bóthair (2006, 26 minutes, HDV, Ireland / Belarus)
Profiling
the work of the Bike 2 Belarus project, we travel with one hundred
students from Ireland, Britain, and the United States as they
cycle from the capital city of Minsk to Gomel, a town close to
the Russian/Ukrainian borders. Those participating encountered
a new culture, made new friends, and overcame a challenge they
never thought possible. |
